Duties
- Assist with the installation of air conditioning units, ductwork, and related mechanical systems following schematics and HVAC design plans
- Support technicians in troubleshooting HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) equipment using hand tools and diagnostic devices such as ohmmeters
- Help with system repairs including electrical diagnostics, refrigeration issues, and mechanical systems repair to ensure proper operation
- Carry out equipment troubleshooting and maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, boilers, and building automation systems under supervision
- Aid in plumbing connections and electrical wiring necessary for HVAC system installation and repair projects
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, disposing of debris, and adhering to safety protocols including EPA regulations for refrigerants
- Support field service activities by assisting with equipment repair, welding tasks, and property maintenance projects as needed
Requirements
- Prior construction experience or hands-on mechanical work experience preferred
- Knowledge of schematics, HVAC design principles, electrical systems, plumbing, and refrigeration is highly advantageous
- Familiarity with HVAC system repair, installation procedures, and maintenance practices
- Mechanical knowledge combined with experience using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and power tools
- Ability to read technical diagrams and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues effectively
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) or <PERSON> driver certification is a plus
- Strong customer service skills to support client interactions professionally when needed
- Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification or HVAC/R licenses are preferred but not mandatory for entry-level helpers
- Willingness to learn welding techniques, ammonia refrigeration procedures, and building automation systems
