Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and temperature accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with equipment like Hoyer lifts or catheter care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure clear understanding of care plans and patient needs.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and document all care provided thoroughly in medical records.
- Participate in infection control practices, including proper hand hygiene and safe handling of infectious disease cases.
- Assist with patient transfers using safe lifting practices and appropriate transfer methods to prevent injury.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring specialized dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and basic life support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks/Cerner) systems for accurate documentation.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work effectively in fast-paced environments such as ICU, emergency medicine, or trauma centers.
- Strong communication skills and compassionate caregiving approach to support patient service excellence.
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals, assisted living communities or home & community care settings is highly valued.
