OVERVIEW:
As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, diagnosing, and managing patient care. You will perform comprehensive physical exams, document medical histories, order diagnostic tests, and create tailored care plans. Your expertise will guide treatment decisions and collaborative patient education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and focused assessments based on patient presentation
- Obtain and document detailed medical histories, including current symptoms, past medical history, medications, allergies, and social factors
- Evaluate patients across all age groups for acute illnesses, infections, and minor injuries
- Formulate differential diagnoses and determine appropriate clinical management
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and care teams
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state scope of practice and clinical guidelines
- Perform minor procedures, including suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, wound care, and foreign body removal
- Ensure appropriate follow-up care instructions and return precautions are provided
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, imaging (e.g., X-rays), and point-of-care testing
- Utilize diagnostic results to support timely and evidence-based clinical decisions
- Continuously assess and monitor patient progress and response to treatment
- Identify changes in patient condition and adjust care plans accordingly
- Determine appropriate patient disposition, including discharge, referral to primary care or specialist, or transfer to emergency services
- Accurately document all encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely and compliant manner
- Ensure documentation supports appropriate CPT/ICD-10 coding and billing requirements
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff to ensure efficient clinic operations
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medication use, and preventive care strategies
- Promote appropriate utilization of healthcare services, including avoiding unnecessary specialist referrals when clinically appropriate
- Provide culturally competent and patient-centered education to improve health outcomes

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Certification
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) from an accredited program
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the State of California
- Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC or FNP-C) required
- Active DEA license with Schedule II–V prescriptive authority
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) strongly preferred
Clinical Experience
- Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in urgent care, family medicine, primary care, or emergency setting
- Experience managing acute conditions, minor trauma, and episodic care across all age groups (pediatrics to geriatrics)
- Demonstrated ability to perform procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, wound care, and basic orthopedic assessments
- Experience with chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma) within a family medicine framework preferred
Clinical Skills & Competencies
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Proficiency in ordering, interpreting, and acting on diagnostic tests (labs, X-rays, EKGs)
- Ability to independently manage urgent and non-emergent conditions, triage appropriately, and escalate care when necessary
- Knowledge of evidence-based guidelines, preventive care, and continuity of care principles
- Competency in performing comprehensive physical exams and developing treatment plans

- Strong communication skills with ability to educate patients and families clearly and effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (physicians, MAs, front office, specialists)
- High level of efficiency, adaptability, and time management in urgent care workflows
