Events & Catering Coordinator

Position Summary:
Hal & Mal’s and The Walk-In are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Events & Catering Coordinator to lead the planning and execution of onsite private events, and special gatherings, as well as offsite catering for social, corporate, and nonprofit clients. This is a full-time, client-facing role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, loves building relationships, and is passionate about creating memorable experiences.
This role offers a base salary plus commission, providing excellent earning potential for a motivated individual who consistently drives new business and delivers exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
Onsite Event Coordination (Hal & Mal’s + The Walk-In):
- Manage all aspects of private events, including weddings, receptions, concerts, and corporate functions
- Conduct tours, coordinate event logistics with kitchen and bar staff, and serve as the client liaison throughout planning and execution
- Develop and maintain event packages and pricing materials tailored to different venue spaces
- Oversee setup and breakdown in coordination with operations staff
Offsite Catering & Sales Development:
- Coordinate and grow offsite catering, including deliveries, full-service catered events, and bar services
- Actively seek out new business opportunities through outreach to local businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations
- Build and manage a pipeline of leads; respond promptly to inquiries and prepare proposals
- Manage client communications, contracts, and timelines from initial inquiry through successful execution
Administrative & Sales Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate booking calendars, CRM systems, and financial tracking for events and catering
- Work closely with marketing and operations teams to promote offerings, seasonal specials, and event capabilities
- Represent Hal & Mal’s and The Walk-In at tastings, networking events, and community functions
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in event planning, catering sales, or hospitality coordination
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Self-starter with the drive to meet and exceed sales goals
- Knowledge of the Jackson, MS event and F&B scene required
- Onsite presence during events
- Ability to coordinate staff towards sustained demand for performance and during dates with multiple events
Compensation:
This position offers a competitive base salary with additional commission-based earnings, creating strong potential for financial growth. Commission is based on event bookings and catering sales, rewarding both effort and results.
