Job Overview
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner works as part of the clinic provider team performing a variety of direct patient services including diagnostic procedures, taking patient history, formulating, initiating and monitoring the total general patient management plan for the clinic’s Pediatric patients. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner performs these functions under the general supervision of a licensed physician in a primary health care setting.
Qualifications:
1. Graduation from an acceptable type of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program recognized by the Board of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences from a program otherwise designated for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners which has been approved by both the State Medical Society and the American Medical Association.
2. The ability to relate with effectiveness to patients and providers.
3. Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques.
4. Sufficient experience to carry out the duties of this position.
Responsibilities:
1. Obtains complete medical history from patient, family, previous medical record, etc.
2. Adjusts medications according to therapeutic goals and explains treatment to patients,
families and other clinic personnel.
3. Teaches and counsels patients and families.
4. Consults with physicians and other members of the health care team as necessary.
5. Performs other necessary duties as required by Primary Health Services Centerto
meet the goal of providing primary health care services.
6. Performs complete physical examinations on patients.
7. All other duties as outlined in the job description.
