Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload furniture, boxes, and heavy items using proper manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Operate various vehicles including box trucks and personal vehicles for delivery and moving services, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and traffic laws.
- Drive route trucks confidently, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining safe driving practices on city streets or highways.
- Assist clients with the physical aspects of moving by lifting heavy items using safe lifting practices to prevent injury.
- Load and unload items efficiently at both origin and destination sites, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure placement.
- Communicate professionally with customers to provide excellent service, answer questions, and address any concerns during the move.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform routine safety checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure optimal operation.
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, commercial driving, or delivery driving roles with a focus on manual handling and heavy lifting.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks or commercial trucks preferred.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse tools.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations related to commercial vehicle operation and weight handling in the workplace.
- Strong understanding of safe lifting practices to prevent injuries during loading/unloading activities.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Ability to operate mobile devices for route navigation, documentation, or communication purposes effectively.
