Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Learning and Organizational Development, the Staff Educator is responsible for the education, and skills training of clinical and non-clinical Menorah Park staff. This role involves curriculum development and presentation, along with ensuring skills competence though hands on training as appropriate.
In collaboration with the Director of Learning and Organizational Development, Administration and Nursing Leadership, and Department Directors the Staff Educator will stay up to date on best practice and regulatory compliance to ensure delivery of high-quality education to contribute to the professional development and career growth of employees promoting excellence in customer care, and fostering a continuous learning environment
Duties
- Curriculum, Policy and Procedure, Skills Training, and Inservice development that meets facility needs and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitates in-person New Employee Welcome, training programs, workshops, skills fairs and staff inservices.
- Oversight and tracking of clinical and non-clinical orientation completion.
- Models and promotes the organizations mission and values, professional behavior, ethical standards, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Be a mentor and coach to new and existing employees.
- Be a subject matter expert in facility procedures
- Creation and dissemination of educational materials, newsletters and communications to staff.
- Responsible for CPR training classes, certification tracking and notification of soon to expire certifications to ensure all required staff maintain compliance.
- CNA inservice tracking to maintain compliance with state and federal compliance.
- Policy, Procedure and Competency development and revision.
- Facilitate Community partnership orientation and health tracking for interns and nursing program students.
- Provide remedial education and training of staff as needed.
- Promotion of an inclusive, supportive and engaging education milieu.
- Maintenance of Education teaching spaces along with supply ordering and management.
- Maintain employee education files.
- Participate in employee retention initiatives
- Completion of education audits
- Facilitate scheduling outside providers for education/training programs.
- Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate to support staff and facility needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- · Graduate of accredited school of nursing registered or license to practice in New York State.
- · 3 years Long Term Care experience, (preferred).
- · One year of staff education experience (preferred).
- · Detailed oriented with excellent time management skills
- · Knowledge of DOH and CMS regulatory requirements
- · Dynamic, engaging personality
- · Effective communicator with the ability to establish positive, collaborative relationships with all staff and leadership.
- · Displays a passion for the education, training and growth of employees.
- · CPR/BLS Instructor (preferred)
- · Flexible working schedule
- · Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet project deadlines and needs of the facility as they arise.
Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
