Position Summary
Metro Prosthetics is seeking an energetic, motivated, and highly organized Prosthetic & Orthotic Administrative Assistant to join our growing team in our Baltimore Maryland office. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while supporting the daily administrative operations of our prosthetic and orthotic practice. Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, visitors, physicians' offices, and insurance companies, ensuring a professional, friendly, and compassionate experience.
- Collect, review, and verify patient demographic, insurance, and referral information necessary for patient care and billing.
- Coordinate patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Send, receive, and track documentation requests and medical records from physicians, healthcare providers, and insurance carriers.
- Assist with insurance verification, authorization requests, and billing-related administrative tasks.
- Collect patient payments and maintain accurate financial and patient records.
- Answer and direct calls using a multi-line phone system and respond to patient inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintain the reception area, patient literature, office supplies, and administrative inventory.
- Ensure all patient records and documentation are accurately maintained in compliance with privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Perform general clerical and administrative duties, including filing, scanning, data entry, and correspondence.
- Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical office, prosthetic and orthotic practice, healthcare administration, or customer service role preferred.
- Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and exceed patient expectations.
- Knowledge of medical insurance, referrals, authorizations, and healthcare documentation processes is a plus.
