Job Overview
Wesleyan Potters is seeking an organized, professional, and community-oriented Office Manager to support the daily operations of our craft school and cooperative. As the primary point of contact for students, instructors, members, vendors, volunteers, and visitors, the Office Manager plays a key role in maintaining a welcoming, efficient, and collaborative environment.
Wesleyan Potters is dedicated to the education, practice, and appreciation of ceramic, fiber, and metalsmithing crafts. This position supports our mission through administrative leadership, communications, program coordination, and operational support that help our classes, events, and cooperative activities thrive.
Schedule: 20–30 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with occasional evening and weekend support for events.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Managing Director.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay up to $22.00 per hour
- One week of paid vacation after six months of employment
- Four personal days annually
- One tuition-free class per year after six months of employment
Duties
- Manage front-office operations and provide exceptional customer service
- Serve as the primary contact for students, instructors, members, vendors, volunteers, and visitors
- Support the Managing Director and leadership team with administrative tasks
- Maintain office systems, records, schedules, correspondence, and organizational files
- Process invoices, track vendor accounts, coordinate with the bookkeeper, and perform daily cash reconciliation
- Assist with student registration, enrollment, and record keeping
- Coordinate volunteers for programs, events, committees, and special projects
- Manage course catalog information and assist with communications and marketing efforts
- Create signage, posters, brochures, social media content, and other promotional materials
- Support workshops, exhibitions, fundraising activities, and community events
- Provide administrative support to committees and cooperative initiatives
Requirements
- Experience in office administration or a related administrative role
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and design and social media platforms
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community of members, students, instructors, and volunteers
- Experience in a nonprofit, arts education, cooperative, or community-based organization preferred
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
