Job Overview
The Office of the Hocking County Prosecuting Attorney and Victim Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Victim Advocate to provide comprehensive support, crisis intervention, and legal advocacy to victims of crime. The position is responsible for informing victims of their statutory rights, guiding them through the legal process, and connecting them with essential community resources. Advocates also act as a liaison between the victim, law enforcement, and prosecutors.
Duties
- Case Management and Direct Victim Support.
- Crisis intervention and safety planning for victims navigating the legal justice system, particularly in cases of Domestic Violence and Assault.
- Accompany victims to Court hearings in Municipal Court and potentially speaking to the Court on behalf of the victim.
- Work closely with prosecuting attorneys to communicate victim's input concerning plea deals, bond conditions, or sentencing recommendations.
- Assist victims in understanding, requesting, and drafting protection orders.
- Community outreach and collaboration with other victim oriented agencies.
Skills
The ideal candidate will have a calling to public service and victim's advocacy, be willing to participate in community outreach, and have an understanding of the criminal justice system.
Pay: From $19.25 per hour
