Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Chop Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating chop saws and related machinery to accurately cut and prepare materials according to specifications. Your expertise will ensure precise fabrication, uphold safety standards, and contribute to efficient production workflows. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience with industrial equipment, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Duties
- Operate chop saws and other cutting equipment such as CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and stamping presses to process materials with precision.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and production documents to determine cutting requirements.
- Measure materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Set up machinery according to specifications, including programming CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues with industrial equipment to minimize downtime.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards in all operations by following proper procedures and wearing appropriate protective gear.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly lines, materials handling, and packaging tasks to support overall production goals.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating chop saws in a manufacturing or factory environment.
- Familiarity with CNC programming, CAM programming, and machine setup procedures.
- Knowledge of mechanical blueprint reading and interpretation of technical drawings.
- Ability to perform shop math accurately for measurements and calculations.
- Experience with industrial equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Understanding of safety standards in manufacturing environments.
- Basic knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks is a plus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication processes including welding, tooling, and materials handling.
- Ability to operate hand tools, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Excellent attention to detail coupled with good communication skills.
