Position Overview:
The CNC Burn and Plasma Operator is responsible for workplace safety procedures, conducting quality inspections, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and ISO company standards. This role is essential in maintaining a safe work environment while also ensuring that products meet the highest levels of quality before reaching customers.
- Performs daily equipment check as well as cleans machine.
- Performs/directs loading of plates on to burning table
- Operator CNC Oxy/Plasma/Drilling Equipment for the processing of plate steel
- Must be able to read drawings and measure parts for accuracy. This position is responsible for ensuring that the parts produced are accurate and match the shop detail drawings. Any discrepancies must be reported to Supervisor immediately
- Checks plate for gauge, width, length, grade, heat #, and slab number to processing package/WO. Enters all required information into the ERP system as required for processing information
- Must be able to perform but not limited to the following task: drilling, taping, de burring and all bench operations and inspections required
- Sets up burning machine with proper tips/pressures/amp/squares torches/sets torches to process material to customer specs
- Processes and completes a first off inspection
- Records inspection dimensions on inspection sheets
- Verifies piece count/weight of finished product is correct as per work order requirements and initials order
- Informs supervision of any quality/dimension issues
- Marks and identifies material with heat/slab # and part #, also any required labeling.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. maximum occasionally with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Writes tag/heat#/slab#/size/grain direction and attaches tags to material for Return To Stock
- Cuts scrap on table to be removed and placed in scrap box
- Assists with various other duties as directed by Foreman and trains new employees as required
- Helps to maintain safety and directs maintenance of good housekeeping in work areas
- Follow all adopted Quality policies and procedures
- Follow all safety policies and take part in all safety training activities
- Wears proper PPE at all times
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and QMS/EMS
- Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and Quality/Environmental system
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
- Verify the implementation of solutions
- Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
