Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. This role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of all dogs: upholding above industry standard cleanliness and sanitizing protocols, engaging dogs in enriching activities, assisting with training exercises, and providing excellent customer service to clients. As What-a-Canine is a new business, we need all hands on deck, and employees may be asked to take on various additional tasks. The ideal candidate has a strong love for dogs, excellent communication skills, and previous experience working in a canine-related environment.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising.
- Maintain cleanliness in kennels and play areas to ensure a healthy environment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to management.
- Assist with basic training and socialization of dogs.
- Support pet owners with customer service inquiries regarding their pets' needs.
- Help with administrative tasks related to pet care records and scheduling.
- Supervise and monitor the behavior and activity of dogs in play areas and boarding facilities to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Monitor the health of dogs, checking for signs of distress or illness, and report any concerns to management.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure environment for dogs, staff, and clients.
Skills
- Experience in dog training or handling various breeds.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for animal care tasks.
- Ability to adhere to cleanliness standards and sanitizing protocols.
- Background in veterinary care or as a veterinary technician/assistant is preferred.
- Proficiency in animal handling techniques.
- Knowledge of pet grooming practices is a plus.
- Experience in pet sitting or kennel environments is beneficial.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners.
