We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Automotive Painter to join our Anchorage team. As a high-volume, DRP-driven collision repair organization, this role is critical to delivering exceptional customer experiences, safe repairs, and industry-leading cycle times by leading all aspects of the refinishing process—ensuring outstanding paint quality, precise color matching, and production efficiency while mentoring and supporting team members. The ideal candidate is a skilled automotive refinishing professional with strong leadership abilities, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering results that meet OEM and company standards.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; occasional overtime may be required.

What You'll Do
As a Lead Automotive Painter, you'll oversee daily paint department operations while producing high-quality refinishing work that returns vehicles to pre-accident condition. You'll serve as a technical leader and mentor, helping drive production efficiency, quality standards, and team success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily paint operations and workflow planning to meet production goals
- Prepare surfaces (sanding, masking, priming) for refinishing
- Perform expert color matching and blending to OEM specifications
- Apply primers, basecoats, clearcoats, and specialty finishes to standard
- Inspect work and correct defects to ensure high-quality results
- Coordinate with team members to maintain efficient repair flow
- Mentor and support paint team while promoting best practices
- Maintain equipment, materials, and accurate repair documentation
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company, OEM, environmental, and safety procedures
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of automotive refinishing experience (high-volume/DRP preferred)
- Prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of paint systems, color matching, and refinishing techniques
- Proficient with paint booths, spray equipment, and mixing systems
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality work
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Thrives in a fast-paced, team environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record
- Reliable, professional, and punctual
- Willing to work occasional overtime as needed
- I-CAR, paint manufacturer, and OEM certifications highly preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in and around vehicles, including confined spaces
- Strong visual acuity, including color and depth perception
- Ability to wear PPE, including respirators
- Stamina for repetitive tasks (sanding, masking, buffing, painting)
- Ability to safely work with paint products, solvents, and shop materials while following all safety protocols
