Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation to support their independence.
- Provide behavioral health support by implementing behavior management strategies tailored to each individual’s needs.
- Support clients with communication needs, including the use of American Sign Language (ASL) when applicable, to facilitate effective interaction.
- Operate standard passenger cars safely to transport clients to appointments, community activities, or recreational outings.
- Collect and document data related to client progress, behavior patterns, and service delivery for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Foster social engagement by encouraging participation in community events and recreational activities that promote social skills and inclusion.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety protocols, including first aid and CPR procedures when necessary.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or other disabilities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of special education practices and behavioral health strategies is advantageous.
- Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely and confidently; valid driver’s license required.
- Experience providing home and community care services to individuals with cognitive disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Strong communication skills, including client communication and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and families.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in behavior management or social work is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to collect data accurately and maintain detailed client records.
