Position: Mechanic/Lead Instructor
Pay Range: Candidate will have the option of salary or hourly pay. Salary pay would start at 70k - 100k for the right candidate based on experience.

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This role requires approximately 30% travel and offers strong opportunities for growth within the company. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in heavy equipment operation and maintenance, ensuring all equipment runs efficiently and safely.
This position is a dynamic blend of hands-on mechanical work and instructional responsibilities, including both classroom and field-based training. All necessary training will be provided.
In addition to technical expertise, this role will take on a leadership component by overseeing and managing our field team. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate time tracking, maintaining accountability, driving follow-through on tasks, and supporting overall team performance and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair hydraulic lines, starters, alternators, water pumps, belts and hoses
- Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Assemble and disassemble machinery components as needed for repair or replacement
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on equipment
- Deliver clear, consistent instruction in both classroom and field settings to certification candidates
- Monitor student performance and provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects
- Operate heavy equipment as necessary for testing purposes or during repairs
- Perform yard maintenance as needed
- Continuously expand knowledge of the crane industry
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have experience with hydraulic repairs and diesel crane systems
- Ability to diagnose and solve complex mechanical issues
- Must have own tools for the job.
- Valid driver’s license
- Must live within 1 hour of Houston Tx.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% within Texas and California
- Successful completion of company training
- Ability to pass NCCCO Crane Operator Certification written and practical exams (after training)
- Ability to pass background check
- Leadership/management experience.
- Proficiency with basic computer and technology use (smartphone and laptop required)
- Strong communication skills and comfort speaking in front of groups
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior crane-related experience preferred but not required
- Rigger/Signal Person experience preferred but not required
- Previous classroom or training experience in heavy equipment, crane, or construction industries.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently and within a team.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday – standard 8-hour days (with possible overtime)
- Weekends as needed
Work Environment
- Combination of classroom and training yard.
- Exposure to outdoor weather, noise, and heavy equipment.
- Requires appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves).
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
