PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Provide technical and administrative support for laptops, printers, associated gear and
a variety of application software. Resolve end users connectivity and system issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide laptop administration, configuration and repair (including
identification and replacement of hardware components) in support of
company’s end user base.
- Perform Windows Systems Administration for all workstation platforms
- Create user Active Directory and Email accounts
- Add new systems to the network and domain
- Set file and folder permissions
- Troubleshoot hardware and software failures and identify problems when
they relate to laptops and other network devices
- Provide first level trouble issue support to users
- Install and configure user workstations with all associated applications
- Install software updates and patches
- Assist users in the operation of standard and non-standard software
applications and packages
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Document all processes and procedures
- May assist Systems Administrator with troubleshooting of network and server
problems
- Cabling and cabling projects
- Install and configure serial and Ethernet cabled printers (predominately
Laser jet and Zebra)
- Install and troubleshoot issues with hand held barcode scanners
- Carry out other such duties as may be assigned
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- 2 years working experience in a small to medium business
Client/Server environment
- A+, Net+
- MCP certification strongly desired
- Other IT related certifications or associates degree in an information
technology discipline a plus
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Familiar with common switch configurations
- Expertise with Windows XP
- Familiar with Vista and Windows 7 client operating systems
- Working knowledge of Windows 2003 / 2008 Server
- Familiar with Microsoft Exchange server
- Working knowledge of Active Directory
- Familiar with Microsoft SQL
- Knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Routing and Wireless
connectivity
- Knowledge and understanding of standard network protocols including
HTML, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, NTP, LDAP, VTP, IMAP, Telnet, LPD
- Tipping and punching Ethernet cables
- Competency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to squat to lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand, stoop and bend.
- Ability to walk and stand on cement floors for long periods.
- Good visual acuity.
- Able to sit at desk and use/view computer for up to 8 hours daily.
- Ability to operate lift without problem with heights for cabling projects
