Office/Accounting Clerk
Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Office/Accounting Clerk to support the day-to-day office and financial operations of our company. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate employee and financial records, processing invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, and assisting with general office administration, to include answering and returning phone calls. The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills, is organized, trustworthy, and be comfortable managing multiple responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer and return phone calls
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepare and send customer invoices and record incoming payments.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
- Payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements.
- Prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor account balances and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Monthly and year-end closing procedures.
- Support tax preparation by organizing financial records and documentation.
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal staff regarding billing and payment inquiries.
- Complete audit requirements as needed
- Coordinate onboarding and maintain confidentiality of all employee information.
- Maintain company insurance records.
- Bank and post-office runs
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in accounting, business, or a related field preferred.
- One to three years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a small business environment.
- Experience with bookkeeping or accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (such as QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with payroll processing.
- Ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Comfortable assisting with general office and administrative tasks.
- Previous experience in human resources or business administration.
Work Environment
This position is based in a small office environment with close collaboration with the owner.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Benefits may include paid time off, health insurance, retirement savings options.
Pay: $24.00 - $36.00 per hour
