Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dynamic, and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. The SLP will perform comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide direct therapy in a clinic-based setting. This role focuses on functional communication, social skills, and AAC implementation for individuals with autism.
Action for Autism-Therapy & Education Center is located in Fenton and is growing all of our services.
Action for Autism is a dedicated therapy clinic passionate about enhancing the communication and social skills of children and adolescents on the autism spectrum. We provide a supportive, interdisciplinary environment where SLPs collaborate closely with BCBAs, OTs, PTs and families to help our clients reach their full potential.
Our center is a therapy & learning center offering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapies for learners ages 2-21. We also have a private Special Education program for families who are looking for a functional and therapy heavy approach to education.
Duties
- Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive, play-based diagnostic evaluations and analyze results to determine appropriate therapy goals.
- Individualized Therapy: Plan and provide evidence-based individual and/or group therapy targeting articulation, language, social communication, and feeding/swallowing (if applicable).
- AAC Expertise: Evaluate, select, and implement Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods, including high-tech devices and low-tech communication boards.
- Collaboration: Participate in interdisciplinary care planning with behavior analysts (ABA), occupational therapists, and psychologists to ensure consistent, holistic care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely documentation (daily notes, progress reports, evaluation reports) in compliance with state, federal, and insurance regulations.
- Family Education: Provide training and education to parents and caregivers to promote the generalization of communication skills at home.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.
- Valid Missouri licensure to practice speech-language pathology.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
- Demonstrated experience in evaluating and treating children with autism spectrum disorder.
- Must be able to manage and treat patients who exhibit challenging behaviors, utilizing communication-based strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a clinic or pediatric setting.
- Previous experience working alongside ABA clinicians.
- Experience with PECS, PROMPT, or core vocabulary approaches.

- Patience and flexibility, with the ability to adjust therapy approaches based on daily client needs.
- Strong observational skills to recognize subtle communicative attempts.
- Creativity in finding motivating, play-based materials.
- Proven experience working with children in school or clinical settings
- Strong knowledge of pediatrics, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to speech-language pathology
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques specific to communication and swallowing disorders
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Ability to implement early intervention strategies that promote developmental milestones
- Familiarity with school-based programs and educational environments is highly desirable
- Passion for patient care with a proactive approach to therapy planning and execution

Pay: $54,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
