BASIC FUNCTION:
Under general direction, performs civil/site planning, design, calculations, and construction document preparation for the design, development, and construction of new and existing hotels and commercial real estate.
GENERAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Work directly with the Development Team, Architects and Engineers in exploring multiple conceptual site planning options for potential hotel/commercial parcels.
2. Supports preparation of civil construction document packages under the direction of the Civil Engineering Director. Coordinate civil drawings with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines. Ensure documents are permit-ready and constructible.
3. Coordinate with outside consultants as directed to support civil design, permitting, and construction documentation. Review consultant work for quality, constructability, and compliance.
4. Maintains the project schedule by ensuring the timely preparation of deliverables on assigned projects for all responsible parties.
5. Participates in project team coordination for incorporating design intent into the construction documentation, specifications, and during construction administration.
6. Helps with all aspects in the construction administration of project assignments, including review of shop drawings and submittals, quality control, and site visits.
7. Facilitates coordination with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specifications, and regulatory agencies under general supervision to meet overall project objectives.
8. Maintains close collaboration with design team, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
9. Helps to evaluate new products and systems, energy savings strategies, and cost saving initiatives.
1. Research and understand local municipalities code and regulatory requirements and direct the design team or consultant to reflect such requirements in the design documentation.
2. Perform grading, drainage, stormwater detention calculations, utility planning and sizing and all civil engineering functions needed to capture site and grading approvals with local municipalities.
3. Excellent AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency required. Proficient with all aspects of MS Office.
4. Experience in construction document preparation and field observation.
5. Working knowledge of the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.
6. Skilled in leadership, organization, business writing, and communication skills.
7. Must be able to work independently, multi-task, be a team player, possess a can-do attitude, and be a self-starter.
EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years minimum of progressive experience in a similar position preferred.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Requires ability to work at computer for extended periods of time; requires ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time; requires ability to lift 15-25 pounds intermittently; may require ability to lift heavy equipment on an as-needed basis.
