The Parks & Recreation Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Parks & Recreation Sports Coordinator with sports leagues, projects, and events associated with the City of Bolivar Recreation Center’s sports programs.
- Assist with sports fields preparation, marking and dragging, mowing, trimming, and irrigation, including adjacent areas. Clean and maintain sports fields.
- Assist with game preparation, setting up tables, getting scoreboards ready.
- Perform opening and closing procedures of all assigned locations, including Concession Stand setup and closing.
- Assist with evening and weekend games and tournaments.
- Paint benches and equipment.
- Travel to various recreation locations in the city.
- Adhere to park and recreation location emergency plan procedures.
- Assist with the completion of accident reports on all incidences involving sports participants that occur at assigned locations.
- Assist with supervision of all sports and activities.
- Maintain effective work relationships with associates and the general public.
- Perform any other duties as assigned within the scope of the duties and responsibilities outlined in the employee's job description.
- The ability to work independently, and with a team, to exercise initiative and judgement in planning and execution of multifaceted tasks and objectives as assigned.
- Subject to work varied hours as needed, including days, evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
- High School graduate or GED.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Previous grounds experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent walking, bending, reaching, kneeling and twisting.
- The ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Hold and grip objects.
- Primarily outdoors work; may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
- Acceptable Physical Capacity Profile (PCP) test results are required.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
- Have a valid Missouri Driver’s License and must remain insurable under the City’s liability insurance policy.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain CPR certification.
