Job Goals:
- To provide leadership to collaborate with, and act as a resource to the community, staff, administrative team, and Board of Education on all matters pertaining to student achievement, curriculum, and instructional programs.
- To oversee and guide a process of systematic, intentional, and continuous improvement in student achievement.
- To act as a resource to all personnel in the areas of curriculum, assessment practices, and instruction, including their implications for the district’s programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Alabama certification in administration/instructional leadership.
- Five (5) years of experience in education.
- Teaching experience at the elementary and/or secondary school level, experience in coordination and supervision.
- Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
- Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
- Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
- Leads and collaborates with the staff in the identification, development of, training in and implementation of instructional methods appropriate to the respective curricula they support which are aimed at the continuous improvement of student achievement and expansion of the instructional repertoire.
- Leads, coordinates, and evaluates the district Alabama Numeracy Act and Alabama Literacy Act plans.
- Leads, coordinates, and evaluates the effectiveness, continuous improvement, and impact on learning, of instructional coaches throughout the district.
- Assists in the development, writing, and submission of competitive grants which will supplement regular revenue resources to meet the goals of the district’s programs.
- Assumes responsibility for implementation of a digital curriculum and computerized assessment system.
- Collaborates with technological instructional support and expand technologically driven resources for students and teachers.
- Leads the staff in developing technology-driven instructional applications in the classroom.
- Leads and collaborates with the staff in developing and maintaining a program of continuous staff training/retraining in support of student achievement and other District approved building goals.
- Develops and implements as needed and approved by the administrative team or directed by the Board of Education, committees aimed at serving the curricular, instructional, and professional needs of students and staff.
- Functions as a contributing member of the administrative team in all visioning, strategic, long, and short-range planning, coordination, budgeting, decision-making, and professional needs of students and staff.
- Engages in personal professional growth, adheres to professional standards, and demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
- Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
- Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
- Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
- Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment/Salary: As established by the Board and applicable state law.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
