POSITION SUMMARY
Build Group is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with strong construction accounting knowledge who is ready to take ownership of key accounting functions and support the financial operations of a growing construction organization. This role will be responsible for performing complex accounting activities, supporting month-end close, analyzing job costs and financial results, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting across multiple projects and entities.
The ideal candidate has hands-on construction accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to independently identify and resolve issues. This position will work closely with project teams, and other members of the accounting department and will have opportunities to take on increasing responsibility within the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own key accounting functions, including general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Assist in reconciliation of vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate resolution with project teams and vendors
- Collaborate with financial reporting, audits, tax support, and other accounting initiatives
- Assist in reviewing and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances across related entities
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with company policies and GAAP
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting
- Take ownership of assigned projects and accounting functions while effectively managing competing priorities and deadlines
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field a plus
- Minimum 4 years of accounting experience, with construction accounting experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Hands-on experience with Procore, Sage 300 CRE/Timberline, Textura, or similar construction accounting software preferred
- Strong Excel skills and general computer proficiency
- Working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies independently
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with accounting, project management, and operations teams
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
