About the Opportunity
A-Team Solutions is seeking a Scientist to support the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. The selected candidate will support cutting-edge neuroscience research focused on epilepsy, seizure networks, neurophysiology, and biomarker development. The Scientist will collaborate with researchers, clinicians, and laboratory staff in conducting experiments, analyzing data, maintaining laboratory operations, and contributing to scientific publications and presentations.
Key Responsibilities
Research Support
- Support the planning, execution, and evaluation of neuroscience research experiments.
- Assist with studies involving neurophysiology, epilepsy research, and the development of seizure biomarkers.
- Evaluate new laboratory techniques, instruments, and software for potential integration into laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with research scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and clinical staff on ongoing projects.
Data Analysis & Scientific Collaboration
- Analyze and interpret research data.
- Perform statistical analyses in collaboration with scientific staff.
- Support EEG, MEG, MRI, and other electrophysiological data collection and analysis.
- Assist medical teams in assessing patient conditions and interpreting study results.
- Present research findings to laboratory personnel and project stakeholders.
Patient & Clinical Research Support
- Provide information to patients, physicians, and scientists regarding procedures and testing protocols.
- Obtain and document relevant patient histories.
- Schedule testing appointments and coordinate examination logistics.
- Utilize clinical information systems to retrieve and manage patient information.
Laboratory Operations
- Train laboratory staff on the proper use of research equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety and infection-control standards.
- Serve as a laboratory safety resource and participate in routine safety inspections.
- Assist with equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Manage laboratory resources, reagents, biological samples, and inventory.
Scientific Communication
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, figures, and manuscripts for publication.
- Participate in laboratory meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences.
- Maintain laboratory records, databases, and research documentation.
- Mentor and train fellows, students, and other laboratory personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Neuroscience or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience with electroencephalography (EEG).
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- EEG
- MEG
- MRI
- CT Imaging
- PET Imaging
- Ultrasound Imaging
- Bioluminescence Imaging
- Experience supporting clinical or translational neuroscience research.
- Scientific writing and publication experience.
- Experience analyzing complex biological or neurological datasets.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
