Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and set up manual machining equipment to machine and grind precision aerospace components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. Your expertise in mechanical blueprint interpretation, measurement tools, and machining techniques will ensure the highest quality standards are met. Duties
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately to determine machining requirements.
- Operate manual lathes, grinders, milling machines, and other machining tools with precision and safety.
- Use measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, to verify dimensions and ensure quality control.
- Perform basic math calculations for measurements, tolerances, and adjustments during machining processes.
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and workpieces efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform minor repairs as needed.
- Collaborate with team members on lean manufacturing initiatives to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, inspection results, and machine setups.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a manual machinist or in a similar manufacturing role with a strong mechanical background.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting technical drawings.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for machining adjustments.
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of GD&T principles for quality assurance.
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other shop machinery.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
