Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Activity Therapist to join our behavioral health team on a PRN (as-needed) basis. This role is responsible for developing and facilitating therapeutic activities that promote emotional wellness, recovery, and patient engagement within an inpatient behavioral health setting.
The Activity Therapist works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team to assess patient needs, develop individualized therapeutic interventions, and provide engaging group and individual activities that support treatment goals. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping individuals improve their quality of life through recreational, music, art, or other expressive therapies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments to identify therapeutic and recreational needs.
- Develop and implement individualized activity therapy plans based on patient goals and clinical recommendations.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups and activities designed to promote socialization, coping skills, emotional expression, and overall wellness.
- Monitor patient participation and response to interventions and document progress in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nursing staff, and other treatment team members to support patient care.
- Modify treatment plans as needed based on patient progress and changing needs.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive therapeutic environment.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute recommendations regarding patient progress and discharge planning.
QualificationsEducation
Bachelor's degree required in one of the following or a related field:
- Recreational Therapy
- Music Therapy
- Art Therapy
- Therapeutic Recreation
- Behavioral Health or Human Services field with applicable certification
Experience
- Experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, psychiatric care, or related settings preferred.
- Experience facilitating groups and therapeutic activities is highly desirable.
Licensure/Certification
- Current certification, registration, or licensure as required by discipline and state regulations.
- CPR certification required or obtainable within designated timeframe.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification preferred or obtainable after hire.

Pay: $46,962.40 - $56,556.87 per year
