About the Opportunity
Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization located in Philadelphia's historic Old City district, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to gain hands-on experience, work closely with leadership, and grow into a future accounting leadership role within the organization.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn. This position offers exposure to a variety of accounting functions and a clear path for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Support payroll processing and related accounting functions
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain accounting records and supporting documentation
- Assist with month-end close activities
- Support general ledger maintenance and financial reporting
- Process invoices and ensure accurate record keeping
- Collaborate with internal departments to support accounting operations
- Assist with audit preparation and special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Experience with reconciliations, invoicing, AP/AR, or general accounting functions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Nonprofit accounting experience
- Grant accounting exposure
- Payroll experience
- Experience working with accounting or ERP systems
