2nd Shift Production Manager

Harvey Vogel Manufacturing Co. is looking for a hands-on 2nd Shift Production Manager to lead evening production operations in a fast-paced precision metal manufacturing environment. HV has been a trusted partner in custom metal stampings, sheet metal fabrications, assemblies, and value-added manufacturing services since 1942. This role is responsible for leading the 2nd shift team, maintaining a safe and accountable shop floor, driving daily production priorities, supporting quality expectations, and ensuring customer orders are completed safely, on time, at the required quality level, and within budget.
The ideal candidate is a strong shop-floor leader who can communicate priorities clearly, coach employees, resolve issues quickly, and maintain continuity between 1st and 2nd shift operations. This person will help create a culture of safety, quality, urgency, teamwork, and accountability across the production floor.
As the primary leader for 2nd shift production, this role provides direction, coaching, and accountability for production employees and Production Team Leads while ensuring the shift stays aligned with HV's customer commitments and operating standards.

Create a safe, productive, and accountable 2nd shift work environment.

Coach and develop technical talent across HV's production areas, including stamping, fabrication, laser, turret, press brake, secondary operations, and related shop-floor processes.

Coach and mentor PTLs (Production Team Leaders) and working leads.

Hold employees accountable for productivity, quality, attendance, and work performance.

Support employee development and training.

Ensure staffing levels are appropriate for workload requirements.

Maintain documentation related to employee performance and counseling.
The 2nd Shift Production Manager keeps work moving through the factory efficiently by setting priorities, removing roadblocks, and maintaining strong communication between shifts and support departments.

Monitor production schedules and workload capacity, including daily communication with 1st Shift Production Managers to set 2nd shift priorities and maintain continuity of workload.

Evaluate production efficiency and throughput.

Update run times and manufacturing process information.

Prioritize jobs to meet customer delivery requirements.

Review Open Order Reports and production status.

Follow up on Late Laser, Turret, Blank, and Press reports.

Work with Scheduling to ensure jobs are staged and completed on time.

Identify bottlenecks and remove obstacles impacting throughput.
Quality is a core part of HV's reputation. The 2nd Shift Production Manager plays a key role in preventing issues, resolving problems quickly, and ensuring production work meets customer specifications and internal quality requirements.

Act as a technical resource for troubleshooting machinery and/or process-related issues as they arise.

Support resolution of MRB and Nonconformance (NC) issues.

Address problems involving parts in production, quarantine, or customer returns.

Work closely with Quality personnel regarding project priorities and ensuring product meets customer specifications.

Ensure QMS specifications for part conformity align with customer print and CAD documentation.

Ensure operators understand how to inspect parts and read blueprints.
The 2nd Shift Production Manager is responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and disciplined workplace that reflects HV's standards for quality, professionalism, and operational excellence.

Proven leadership experience in manufacturing, production, fabrication, stamping, machining, or a related industrial environment.

Ability to read and understand production schedules, job priorities, blueprints, work instructions, and quality requirements.
