Job Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. The individuals may also have complex medical conditions including but not limited to respiratory issues requiring trach and/or ventilators and seizure disorders. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate care and support to clients in various settings, ensuring their safety, well-being, and independence. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to fostering a positive environment while promoting the dignity and respect of each person.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in clients’ health status.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, encouraging social interaction and engagement.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s unique needs and preferences.
- Assist with mobility and transportation to appointments or community activities.
- Ensure a safe living environment by maintaining cleanliness and organization in client spaces.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to address any medical or behavioral concerns.
- Provide specialized care for clients with conditions such as intellectual disabilities and/or autism, utilizing appropriate techniques and strategies.
Skills
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following skills:
- Proficient in monitoring vital signs and understanding long-term care practices.
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and CPR certification.
- Experience in assisted living environments, residential or similar settings.
- Strong patient care skills with an emphasis on empathy and compassion.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols.
- Ability to provide specialized care for individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting changes in condition.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 per hour
