American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR Tech First Assistant with a minimum of 5 years of experience and spine and robotic surgical skills for a Level 3 Trauma Center hospital position working 4x10-hour weekday shifts.

Specialties include Ortho/Spine/Neuro/Podiatry, Robotics (GYN/Urology/General), Vascular, General, Colorectal, Cysto/Urology, GYN, Breast Reconstruction, and organ procurements (DCD only)

Spine procedures include ALIFs, XLIFs, TLIFs, and ACDFs; Ortho Trauma includes gamma nails, TFNs, and bipolar hips

7 OR rooms with an average daily case volume of 22–30 cases

Adult to geriatric patient population

Equipment includes Arthrex tower, Olympus lap video equipment, Allen and OSI spine/FX tables, Hanna table, Mayfield headrest, Covidien FX-10 generator with LigaSure, NovaSure, Stryker PI Drills, Stryker 8 Power, and DaVinci XI

Orthopedic vendors include Synthes (preferred for trauma), Stryker, and Biomet Zimmer; spine vendors include Stryker Spine and NuVasive; neuro cranial uses the Biomet plating system

Day shift, 4x10 hours, 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM, weekdays only

No floating required

On-call averages 4 shifts per six weeks as back-up with a 30-minute response time; an in-house OR team covers nights 24/7 with two teams from 7 AM–7 PM

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an OR Tech First Assistant

Spine and robotic surgical experience required
-
BLS certification required
-
One of the following certifications required: CSFA, NBSTSA, or NCCSA
-
License required if applicable

Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration

Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
-
First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
-
This position requires a privileging process that takes approximately 90–120 days from the time of contract signature; candidates must complete this process before starting
-
Scrubs are provided by the facility
-
RTO is capped at 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
-
Holiday coverage is required: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of them with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
-
Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counts as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counts as one)

No scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted

Local candidates are accepted

Travelers must be away from this health system for a full calendar year before returning as a traveler

Full compliance with all onboarding requirements is necessary to start on time
