- Mechanic records details of repairs made and parts used.
- Mechanic reassembles machines and equipment following repair, test operations, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Mechanic maintains, repairs farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, balers, hay equipment, pumps, etc.
- Mechanic examines and listens to equipment, reads inspection reports, uses diagnostic equipment, and confers with manufacture and or customer to locate and diagnose malfunctions.
- Mechanic tests and replaces electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.
- Mechanic repairs or replaces defective parts, may need to use, welding equipment, grinders or touches.
- Mechanic cleans and lubricates parts of the farmer’s equipment.
- Mechanic may need to tune, or overhaul engines on the farm equipment.
- Mechanic drives trucks and maintains CDL license to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair or large machinery.
Mechanic needs knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. The Mechanic needs knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs, assessments, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Mechanic needs knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

- Mechanic watches gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly and safety guards are installed.

Work Activities for the Farm Equipment Mechanic
The Farm Equipment Mechanic services, repairs, adjust, and tests machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical not electronic principles. Mechanic must be capable to runs, maneuvering, navigating or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, tractors & implements. Mechanic analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Mechanic inspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Mechanic performs physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Mechanic must keep up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job. Mechanic develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, and accomplish work in timely and scheduled manor.
AgCentral Coop will provide:
· Area to complete work on tractors and implements
· Training on tractors and maintenance
· Computer and test equipment need for job
· Personnel assistance if needed on repairs or assembly
· Service vehicle to do on sight repairs and deliveries
· Standard benefits after 90 days
Duties and expectations:
· Promptness to Coop for work 7:30 am unless other arrangements made. Average work week (40-50 hours)
· Quality work, including repairs, assembly, and delivery of equipment
· Documentation of all work and parts used each day for services performed
· Help promote products and services provided by AgCentral
· Clean equipment that needs repaired or to get ready for resale
· Make deliveries as needed if shop work is slow
· Present a professional image of work and appearance, to the public at all times.
· Non-compete agreement on tractor and equipment repairs.
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
