The Cook works under the direction of the Dietary Manager and is responsible for the safe and timely preparation of food in accordance with the established facility menu. The Cook shall prepare the food in and sanitary and safe manor in accordance with food safety standards along with federal and state guidelines as it pertains to food preparation. The cook is also responsible for the preparation of appetizing food that adheres to the dietary budget.

1. Know, understand and implement the mission of Monument Health.
2. Follow all company policies as contained in the Associate Handbook, Code of Conduct and all other active policies including but not limited to attendance, dress code, workplace safety, zero-tolerance policies and professional conduct.
3. Participate in all required meetings, trainings and events.
4. Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner.
5. Prepare food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance.
6. Follow oral and written directions for menus and recipes.
7. Keep work area clean and sanitize work surfaces after food preparation.
8. Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets.
9. Avoid food waste.
10. Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules.
11. Be responsible for care of food service equipment.
12. Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments.
13. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
14. Observe infection control procedures.
15. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents’ representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
16. Complete all other assigned tasks and responsibilities as they pertain to this position as well as any other responsibilities you have been delegated and cross-trained to perform.
