General Marina Assistant
General Marine Assistant supports daily boatyard operations, vessel maintenance, and seasonal servicing. This role requires heavy physical labor, proficient equipment operation, and outdoor work in varying weather. This is a seasonal position with a pay range of $16.00 – $20.00 per hour.
Key Responsibilities Equipment & Equipment Operation
- Tractor Driving: Safely operate utility tractors to maneuver boats, trailers, and yard equipment across the property.
- Boat Trailering: Back up, park, and precisely position boat trailers in tight storage configurations.
- Lift Trailer Operation: Utilize specialized hydraulic lift trailers to safely haul, launch, and transport watercraft.
Seasonal Boat Servicing
- Winterization: Assist technicians in draining plumbing systems, adding antifreeze, and prepping engines for cold storage.
- Bottom Washing: Operate high-pressure power washers to remove algae, barnacles, and marine growth from hulls.
- Shrink-Wrapping: Construct wooden support frameworks, drape plastic film, and safely use heat guns to seal boats.
Yard Operations & Maintenance
- Vessel Moving: Guide boat trailers, operate blocking equipment, and assist with launching or hauling watercraft.
- Grounds Keeping: Clean work bays, organize jack stands, dispose of hazardous waste, and maintain yard safety.
- Inventory Control: Track seasonal supplies like shrink-wrap rolls, strapping, tape, antifreeze, and propane tanks.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Equipment Proficiency: Proven experience driving tractors, maneuvering large trailers, or operating heavy machinery.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and bend frequently.
- Weather Resilience: Comfort working outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind.
- Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to safety protocols regarding heat guns, power washers, and heavy machinery.
Preferred
- Marine Experience: Prior exposure to boat handling, docking, or marina operations.
- Tool Proficiency: Experience using basic hand tools, power tools, and pressure washers.
- Licensing: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
