Overview
The Lead Massage Therapist plays an integral role in creating the thoughtful, restorative experience that defines The Spa at Keswick Hall. This position is ideal for a passionate therapist who not only delivers exceptional treatments, but also enjoys mentoring fellow therapists, elevating guest experiences, and contributing to the growth of a collaborative luxury spa team. In partnership with Spa Leadership, this role supports treatment excellence through hands-on training, protocol development, seasonal service innovation, and daily operational guidance. This individual serves as a trusted resource for the massage team, fostering a culture rooted in professionalism, wellness, teamwork, and attention to detail. Responsibilities also include maintaining treatment standards, assisting with recruitment and onboarding, overseeing professional supplies and inventory, and ensuring all treatment spaces uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and Virginia license compliance. $18.00 hr. Plus Tips and Commission.

Responsibilities
1. Provide massage and body treatments in accordance with Keswick Hall Spa treatment protocols and luxury service standards.
2. Train, mentor, and support new and existing massage therapists through onboarding, treatment sign-offs, ongoing coaching, and refresher trainings.
3. Develop, implement, and maintain spa treatment protocols to ensure consistency, service excellence, and accuracy within the protocol handbook.
4. Support daily massage operations by monitoring service flow, product usage, treatment timing, and overall guest experience standards.
5. Assist Spa Leadership with therapist scheduling, shift coverage, recruiting, interviews, onboarding, and annual performance development.
6. Foster a collaborative, positive team culture while upholding professional standards in appearance, conduct, cleanliness, and guest care.
7. Partner with Spa Leadership to develop seasonal offerings, enhance the spa menu, and support new treatment innovation initiatives.
8. Maintain organization, cleanliness, safety, and Virginia licensures compliance throughout all treatment and employee areas.
9. Oversee inventory of professional products and massage supplies, assist with ordering, and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operational.
10. Maintain accurate team records including licensure tracking, seniority lists, treatment sign-offs, and required compliance documentation.
11. Collaborate closely with Spa Leadership and fellow department leads to support communication, training initiatives, spa projects, and operational goals.
12. Act as Manager on Duty as needed, assisting with front desk support, guest relations, operational coverage, and overall spa flow.
13. Promote spa, wellness, and resort offerings to guests and team members while supporting guest satisfaction and service recovery efforts when needed.
14. Participate in spa meetings, resort initiatives, sustainability efforts, and additional responsibilities as assigned.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Massage Therapy License in the State of Virginia in good standing.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of massage therapy experience, preferably within a luxury spa, resort, or wellness environment.
- Strong knowledge of massage modalities, body treatments, spa operations, sanitation standards, and treatment protocols.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a passion for mentoring, coaching, and supporting team development
- Exceptional guest service skills with the ability to create warm, personalized, luxury-level experiences.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to lead by example in professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and guest care.
- Comfortable performing in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and service excellence.
- Experience with training, onboarding, treatment quality assurance, and operational support preferred.
- Ability to assist with scheduling inventory management, and daily operational responsibilities as needed.
- Flexible schedule availability including weekends, holidays, and peak resort periods.
- Ability to stand to extended periods and perform physical aspects of massage and spa services.

We offer a competitive compensation package designed to reward both service excellence and guest connection, including hourly compensation, service and retail commissions, and 18% gratuities.
