Job Summary
The City of St. Peters is seeking a dedicated and dependable Corrections Officer to help ensure the safety, security, and well-being of individuals within our detention facility. In this vital public safety role, you'll manage prisoner booking and detention, maintain facility security, and respond to a variety of situations with professionalism and sound judgment. This position operates under general direction and requires strong decision-making skills, discretion, and a commitment to upholding City and departmental standards.
Shift: Rotating schedule across three shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor and Care for Detainees: Oversee booking, detention, and supervision of prisoners while ensuring safety and humane treatment.

Maintain Facility Security: Conduct regular inspections and uphold security procedures to ensure a safe environment for staff and detainees.

Support Department Operations: Implement policies, maintain detailed records, and assist with compliance and reporting.

Respond to Emergencies: Provide timely assistance during medical or security incidents and effectively manage critical situations.

Problem-Solve and Adapt: Use judgment and initiative to resolve challenges and support smooth facility operations.
Minimum Requirements

U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.

High school diploma or GED.

Valid Missouri driver's license.

Must obtain certification in First Aid/CPR within six (6) months of hire.

Must become certified as an authorized user by Regional Justice Information Service and Missouri Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) /Livescan within six (6) months of hire.

Must comply with department appearance standards (no visible tattoos while wearing a long-sleeved uniform shirt and open collar; optional arm sleeve permitted).
