Duties
- Safely operate flatbed tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly on flatbeds or tanker units when applicable
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules and optimize travel time
- Transport various types of freight, including hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, refrigerated trailers, and automobile transportation as required
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Load and unload cargo with attention to safety protocols, especially when handling logistics cargo involving hazardous or sensitive goods
- Maintain accurate documentation for deliveries, pickups, and compliance with all trucking regulations
Experience
- Must have vaild DOT Medical Card!
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with flatbed or tractor-trailer units
- Familiarity with driving manual transmission trucks and operating specialized equipment such as tanker or refrigerated trailers
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazard materials regulations, DOT requirements, and hazardous goods handling procedures
- Experience in delivery driving within logistics environments involving route driving and freight management
- Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading processes and safety standards for manual handling of cargo
- Valid driver’s license with endorsements relevant to flatbed operations and hazardous materials as applicable
- Prior experience with automobile transportation or freight delivery is highly desirable
