The Receiving clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, logging, pricing, and restocking firearms and related merchandise in compliance with company policies, ATF regulations, and industry best practices. This role ensures inventory accuracy, maintains proper documentation, and supports safe, compliant, and efficient retail operations. The Firearm Receiving Clerk works closely with compliance staff and sales teams to facilitate the secure flow of firearms from delivery to sales floor.
Key Responsibilities:
· Receive, inspect, and log incoming firearms following ATF and company guidelines
· Maintain accurate acquisition and disposition records
· Price and tag firearms according to current price lists
· Stock firearm displays and backstock
· Support compliance audits and internal inventory counts
· Communicate with vendors and coworkers to resolve shipment issues
· Maintain a clean and safe work area
· Check and respond to company email daily
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required
· Prior experience in receiving, inventory control, or a related field
· Experience handling firearms is highly preferred
· Highly organized with the ability to maintain compliant records
· Knowledge of ATF regulations and a commitment to following legal procedures
· Proficient in basic computer systems and inventory software
· Solid math skills for inventory counts, pricing, and recordkeeping
· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment
· Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing/walking for extended periods
· Strong integrity when handling serialized merchandise and sensitive documentation
Core Competencies:
· Ensure accurate logging of serial numbers and proper documentation
· Adhere to ATF, federal, and state firearm regulations
· Maintain confidentiality and ethical handling of inventory
· Manage receiving and storage areas effectively and keep them in order
· Confidence in using inventory software, email, and retail systems
· Collaborate well with internal teams and vendors, report discrepancies clearly
· Follow firearm safety procedures and store protocols
· Address shipment or documentation issues with minimal supervision
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
· Indoor retail and warehouse setting
· Frequent handling of firearms; must follow strict safety protocols
· Exposure to dust, cleaning supplies, and occasional loud noise
· Regular sitting, lifting, bending, and standing during shifts
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
