About the Role:
The Child Life Assistant supports the pediatric healthcare team by addressing the developmental, emotional, and psychosocial needs of pediatric patients. Through therapeutic and developmentally appropriate play, this role assists in creating a supportive and normalized environment for children and families throughout the healthcare experience. - Supports the department by providing both direct and indirect patient care
- Assists with therapeutic and developmentally appropriate play activities for pediatric patients
- Facilitates normalization activities in playrooms, patient rooms, and common areas
- Oversees and maintains activity areas to ensure safety, cleanliness, and organization
- Plans and implements age-appropriate activities for patients and families
- Supports special events, holiday celebrations, and department initiatives
- Promotes positive interactions and emotional support for pediatric patients and families
Qualifications
- Education: High Schoop Diploma or GED required
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children or families in a healthcare setting or in individual/ group child focused environments
- Location: St. Joseph's Hospital
