Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Property Accountant will be responsible for the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Prepare comprehensive financial statement packages, including creating and posting journal entries, reviewing the general ledger, and completing balance sheet support schedules.
- Ensure financial packages are completed accurately and delivered to clients in a timely manner.
- Independently address financial questions from internal and external clients.
- Monitor and maintain cash balances for assigned properties.
- Resolve issues and document responses to review comments effectively.
- Analyze variances in financial statements and provide clear explanations to clients.
- Develop resolution plans for complex tenant issues by identifying appropriate points of contact and collaborating to resolve them.
- Review financial statements for errors or discrepancies and prepare necessary adjusting entries.
- Ensure timely payments of debt, real estate taxes, and sales taxes (if applicable) while maintaining internal schedules.
- Review lease documents for accuracy and collaborate with relevant parties to confirm financial interpretations.
- Adhere to internal accounting policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement procedures for completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Advise property management teams on budget preparation and perform quality control to verify budget accuracy in the system.
- Prioritize and independently manage outstanding tasks and research requests.
- Handle client audit requests as necessary.
- Assist with property setup and transitions, including loading beginning balances, sales prorations, and closing entries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a directly related field (required).
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience (preferred).
- Experience in property accounting (a plus).
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and trustworthiness.
- Experience reading and interpreting leases (preferred).

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
