Skilled Construction Worker - Site Work, Home Set Up & Finish
Position Summary
The Skilled Construction Worker supports the installation and completion of manufactured and modular homes by performing skilled labor in one or more specialized construction areas: Site Work, Home Set Up & Installation, and Finish Construction.
This role contributes to safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution by performing technical trade work, supporting crew operations, maintaining jobsite safety, and ensuring construction activities are completed according to plans and company standards.
Each Skilled Construction Worker is assigned a primary trade specialization based on experience and business needs and may be cross-trained in additional trade areas.
Classification
- Hourly, Non-Exempt
- Pay range varies by trade assignment and experience
Typical ranges:
- Finish or Home Set Up: $20.00 – $25.00 hourly, plus incentives!
- Site Work / Excavation: $25.00 – $30.00 hourly, plus incentives!
Supervisory Responsibilities
Trade Specialization Assignments
Workers may be assigned to one or more of the following functional areas:
- Home Set Up / Installation
Primary and secondary trade assignments are determined by management.
Core Responsibilities (All Skilled Construction Workers)
- Perform skilled construction labor in assigned trade area(s)
- Assist other trades as needed to support project completion
- Load, unload, and stage construction materials
- Prepare work areas through measuring, marking, and layout preparation
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Maintain clean and organized jobsite conditions
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required protective equipment
- Identify hazards and report concerns immediately
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership
- Support overall project timelines and quality standards
- Perform other duties as assigned to support construction operations
Trade-Specific Responsibilities
1. Site Work / Excavation
Responsible for preparing land and infrastructure for home installation.
- Inspect job sites to determine boundaries and elevations
- Clear vegetation, debris, and obstructions
- Grade land for drainage and structural support
- Excavate for foundations, utilities, and drainage systems
- Install underground utilities including water, sewer, and electrical
- Pour concrete for pads, piers, runners, sidewalks, and driveways
- Operate or assist with heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, and backhoes
- Implement erosion control and soil stabilization measures
- Identify potential delivery or site readiness issues
2. Home Set Up / Installation
Responsible for structural placement and exterior construction of homes.
- Assist with positioning and leveling manufactured or modular homes
- Support crane operations and equipment alignment
- Perform structural assembly and weather sealing
- Install roofing, siding, and exterior components
- Construct customer-requested additions such as decks, garages, and structural expansions
- Assist with equipment movement and placement
- Ensure structural readiness for finish work
3. Finish Construction
Responsible for interior and final construction completion.
- Install and finish drywall
- Install interior trim, doors, and cabinetry
- Perform painting and general carpentry
- Assist with flooring, siding, and interior remodeling
- Complete final construction details to prepare home for occupancy
- Ensure quality appearance and functional completion

- Work completed safely and in compliance with company standards as this is a safety-sensitive position

Education & Experience
General:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Proficiency in two or more construction trade skills required
- Relevant construction or remodeling experience required
Trade-specific experience may include:
Site Work:
- Equipment operation experience specific to dirt work
- Excavation or grading experience
- Utility installation knowledge
- CDL or septic certification preferred
Home Set:
- Manufactured or modular home installation experience
- Structural assembly and exterior construction such as framing, roofing and siding
Finish:
- Interior remodeling experience
- Drywall finishing and trim carpentry
- Advanced drywall finishing preferred
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 80 pounds
- Push or pull up to 50 pounds
- Stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
- Work in all weather conditions
- Flexible schedule with occasional long hours
- Occasional travel, including overnight stays, per diem paid
Other Requirements
- Successful background check and drug screening
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- All 3 criteria required for most roles and required to drive a company vehicle
Reporting Structure
Reports to the Construction Lead or Assistant Crew Lead.
