St. Francis Society Animal Rescue is a 100% foster-based nonprofit dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens throughout the Tampa Bay area. We partner with local stores and fosters to find loving homes for more than 1,800 cats each year.
We’re looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and organized Adoption Center Coordinator to care for cats, help manage operations, and assist adopters in finding their perfect feline companion at our Citrus Park PetSmart adoption center.
Position Overview
The Adoption Center Coordinator is responsible for the overall care and presentation of cats at the Citrus Park PetSmart adoption center. This includes cat care, adoption processing, and serving as the liaison between St. Francis Society and PetSmart management.
This is a hands-on, part-time position requiring approximately 9 hours per week:
- Wednesday–Friday: 3-hour shifts, from 5-8pm Training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Adoptions & Public Engagement
- Set up signage and displays for adoptions.
- Greet and engage potential adopters, answer questions, and help match cats to families.
- Manage the meet-and-greet and qualification process; coordinate with fosters as needed.
- Process approved adoptions through the St. Francis website and PetSmart system.
- Provid excellent customer service and represent St. Francis positively to the public.
- Help plan and execute PetSmart adoption promotions and special events.
- Report to the Center Lead for updates and guidance.
- Communicate regularly with fosters, volunteers, and leadership.
Cat Kennel Assignments
· Assign kennels to fosters weekly based on requests and available space.
· Manage all kennel assignments, serving as the primary point of contact for fosters requesting kennel space
· Review each cat's health record prior to scheduling to confirm that required vaccines and flea prevention are current before any Center stay is approved
· Communicate all assignments to both fosters and Center volunteers
Center Maintenance
- Maintain an orderly, welcoming environment at the adoption center.
- Request needed supplies and manage inventory (expenses reimbursed with approval).
- Decorate for holidays and events to enhance visibility (expenses reimbursed with prior approval).
Qualifications
- Passion for animal welfare and strong understanding of cat behavior and care
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently
- Comfortable with technology and learning new software and processes
- Professional, friendly demeanor with the public, volunteers and store staff
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform cleaning tasks
- Reliable transportation and willingness to commute to Citrus Park PetSmart
Preferred:
- Prior experience in animal rescue or shelter work
- Experience with volunteer coordination or event planning
Schedule & Compensation
- Schedule: Wednesday-Friday evenings, from 5-8pm
- Pay: $17/hour
- Reimbursements: Laundry, cleaning supplies, and approved decor/event expenses
- Reports to: Citrus Park Adoptions Center Lead
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
