Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand their flooring needs, preferences, and renovation goals, providing expert guidance on product options including hardwood, tile, carpet, and specialty surfaces.
- Utilize SketchUp, CAD, or other design software to create detailed layout plans and visualizations that help clients envision their completed projects.
- Conduct product demonstrations and explain features of flooring materials, lighting options, and related accessories to enhance customer understanding and confidence.
- Assist clients in selecting complementary design elements such as lighting fixtures or decorative accents to elevate their space’s aesthetic.
- Negotiate pricing, upsell premium products or services, and close deals effectively while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Manage inside sales activities including POS transactions, cash handling, account management, and maintaining accurate sales records.
- Support merchandising efforts by organizing stock displays, updating marketing materials, and ensuring the showroom presents an inviting atmosphere.
- Collaborate with contractors or renovation teams to coordinate installation schedules and ensure quality standards are met during remodeling or construction projects.
- Provide ongoing customer support post-sale by managing inquiries related to maintenance, warranties, or future upgrades.
Experience
- Experience in outside sales or retail sales within the flooring, interior design, or construction industry.
- Familiarity with layout design tools is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation skills coupled with the ability to upsell products confidently while focusing on customer satisfaction.
- Background in renovation or construction projects including remodeling processes and maintenance requirements.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse clientele and installation crews.
- Knowledge of lighting design or lighting sales can enhance your ability to offer comprehensive solutions.
- Excellent communication skills paired with organizational skills to manage multiple client accounts efficiently.
- Experience with POS systems, retail math calculations, merchandising strategies and product demos will support your success in this role.
