The Sands College of Performing Arts at Pace University is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as the part-time Wardrobe Supervisor. In addition to the department supervisor, Costume Shop Manager, the part-time Wardrobe Supervisor will also be under the direction of the Director of Production.
Position Duties

Responsible for leading the backstage wardrobe crew on each production.

Provide any necessary training to seasonal staff as well as help create and maintain a healthy and safe working environment, both in the shop and backstage.

Work with costume shop staff and designer to review all costume pieces and costume plot.

Work with the SM team on assigning dressing room, developing the backstage tracks for the wardrobe team and choreograph any necessary quick changes.

Create and maintain backstage tracks for each member of the wardrobe crew.

Create and maintain all wardrobe paperwork, including documentation/tracking sheets of wardrobe inventory per show.

Attend and/or watch video of designer run to determine quick changes and other costume related problems.

Responsible for loading in and striking costumes for each production, leading a team of student workers.

Responsible for setting up dressing rooms and backstage costume areas prior to actors arriving.

Manage the wardrobe crew’s tasks of repairing and cleaning costume pieces prior to each technical rehearsal and performance.

Coordinate with the costume shop staff, student crews and/or designers to ensure a production handoff and technical rehearsal experience.

Foster and maintain a positive and production work environment, specifically backstage and dressing rooms.

Ensure that the wardrobe rooms, backstage areas and dressing rooms are kept in a clean and tidy manner.

Remain calm in a high intensity environment and support the wardrobe team in stressful repairs/changes.

Read all show reports (rehearsal, production meetings, technical rehearsal, performance) and respond as necessary.

Adhere to all safety protocols at all times.

Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications

BA or equivalent work experience.
-
3 years of experience in the field.
-
Ability to lift, carry and move up to 50 pounds of equipment, up and down stairs in varied lighting conditions.

Ability to work in dark spaces.
-
Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time, and bend, stoop or kneel while assisting actors, staff and/or designer in execution of duties as assigned.

Ability to work in and with proper personal protective equipment. Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools.

Possess strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills and the ability to work as a part of the team.

Team player that requires minimal guidance to accomplish tasks that involve instructing, coaching, demonstrating, supervising, and working alongside students of various experience levels to teach them necessary technical skills.
Work Hours
Exact hours are based on the production schedule and needs of the production. Maximum of 20 hours per week. Schedule is made and agreed upon prior to the start of each semester. Some weekend and evening hours are required.
