This is a seasonal/temporary role with on -the-job training available for the right person. Expected employment dates will be mid to late October until mid to late January. Long-term hiring possible after the temporary period.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software
- Verify patient insurance coverage, including health insurance knowledge, and other third-party payers
- Collect payments and perform medical billing and collection activities
- Maintain accurate medical/dental records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to answer inquiries, confirm appointments, and relay messages
- Handle administrative support tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records (EHR)
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred
- Strong computer skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology, dental coding, and health information management principles
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
- Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Experience with medical or dental settings is advantageous but not required
