Job description:
BOTTOM LINE RESPONSIBILITY: Finish molded parts before and after prime painting. Identifies and corrects major and minor blemishes.
QUALITY RESPONSIBILITY: Empowered to stop the process due to any safety or quality issue
COMPANY (SECONDARY) RESPONSIBILITY: To help the company as a whole by assisting where necessary to insure the company’s profitable future.
Cross Train in Fiberglass and Press Mold Operator
1. Files, grinds, sands, and smoothes filled or repaired surfaces using power and hand tools.
2. Drill parts to specifications using fixture and pneumatic air/electric tools.
3. Inspect parts for repairs and rework according to the press operators verbal instructions and exposure to job over time.
4. Set up materials and supplies for job.
5. Stamp and/or tag parts for identification. Fill out tags to indicate whether the part should be held or shipped out.
6. Mount parts onto machine fixture and activate water jet.
7. Remove part from water jet.
8. Monitor operation of water jet to detect malfunctions and inform supervisor or programmer of problems.
9. Smooth or scuff part surface and sand part to specified trim lines.
10. Examines and feels surface of fiberglass to detect defects.
11. Finishes molded parts before and after prime painting.
12. Operates vibrating tools with flexibility wrist supports 8 to 12 hours per day.
13. Hand sand by reaching as much as full length of arm and applying pressure.
14. Use pneumatic powered hand sander by reaching and applying pressure to molded parts.
15. Use glue guns to apply various parts (such as metal plates) to fiberglass parts.
16. Use gravity fed paint guns to apply primer and paint to finished parts.
16. Assemble pneumatic drilled holes with hand-applied screws or rivets for attachment
17. Maintain glue guns and glue gun filling stations by wiping down the filling valves, gun, and tips. Also includes filling guns as needed.
18. Trim parts to required part specifications using router fixture and pneumatic tools
19. Troubleshoot work-related problems by working in teams to come up with solutions.
20. Repair and rework defective parts according to rework and repair instructions.
21. Stands, walks, bends and holds position to accurately place and remove parts three to four feet in front of oneself.
22. Lifts up to 40 pound parts from a mold, shipping rack, and/or in and out of assembly fixture.
23. Work in extremely hot conditions during certain times of the year.
24. Work 40 to 50 hours per week as needed.
Schedule 5:00am - 3:30pm M - TH
Shift Starts at 5am sharp
1st break - paid - 8:00am - 8:10am
Lunch -unpaid -10:30am - 11:00am
2nd break - paid - 1:00pm -1:10pm
End of shift - 3:30pm
