Job Description: Labor Relations Officer

Position Summary
The Labor Relations Officer is responsible for supporting and managing labor relations activities, including the administration of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), grievance handling, and fostering positive relationships between management and labor unions. This role ensures compliance with labor laws and provides guidance to supervisors and employees on labor-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements (CBAs)
Serve as a liaison between management and union representatives
Investigate and resolve employee grievances and disputes
Support labor negotiations and assist in contract administration
Provide guidance to managers on labor relations policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
Participate in disciplinary meetings and employee relations matters
Maintain records of grievances, disciplinary actions, and resolutions
Analyze labor relations data and trends to identify issues and improvements
Assist in preparing for arbitration, mediation, and negotiations
Conduct training for supervisors on labor relations topics

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 4 years of experience in labor relations, employee relations, or HR
Knowledge of labor laws and union environments
Experience handling grievances and employee relations issues
Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
Experience in a unionized or public sector environment
Familiarity with laws such as NLRA, FLSA, and related regulations
HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
Experience supporting collective bargaining negotiations
