**This position requires relocation to Austin, TX within 12-24 months**
As an Outside Sales Representative Trainee, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of how our business operates—from shipping and receiving and order desk sales to supporting outside sales efforts. This hands‑on training is designed to prepare you for a successful transition into an Outside Sales role.
Upon completion of the training period, you will relocate to Austin, TX to support and grow a dedicated sales territory within the Austin market. In this role, you will work directly with customers, building strong relationships and delivering world‑class customer service while expanding brand awareness and your customer base.
This position is ideal for someone who is motivated, relationship‑driven, and eager to learn the business from the ground up. You’ll be encouraged to think creatively, try new approaches, and take ownership as you develop into a successful outside sales professional.
About the Hardwoods Training Program
The Outside Sales Rep Trainee will grow into sales, and potentially management roles over time. Our hands-on training program is essential to develop the knowledge and expertise required to become part of the best trained sales force in the industry and is the key to the success of our sales team. In addition to our on-the-job training, we are proud to offer our exceptional three-day ADENTRA University Consultative Sales Course that was specifically developed for our company.
Phase 1: Warehouse and Logistics – Learn about our products, how they get stored, handled and distributed from the vendor to the customer. Duties will include:
- Order pulling
- Sorting
- Loading and unloading trucks
- Organizing and cleaning the warehouse.
Phase 2: Operations and Inside Sales – Getting involved in customer service, order management, inventory and pricing. Duties will include:
- Writing up sales orders & learning how to look at inventory in our system
- Regular Product Knowledge sessions to become a product expert on what we sell and how the products are used
- Regular Sales Skills training, assigned by the Sales manager or Branch Manager
- Conduct outgoing sales calls to fill trucks/follow up on quotes etc.
- Learn how to sell value added products
- Complete call reports based off the outgoing sales calls
- Learn Pre-Call planning for sales calls
- Prospect and qualify leads.
- Participate in monthly “role plays” to test sales skills and Product Knowledge development
- Participate in regular ride-alongs with Sales Managers, Branch Managers and senior sales reps, to be exposed to various sizes and types of accounts
Phase 3: Inside & Outside Sales/Account Management – Gain the confidence to find new business opportunities, sell our products, negotiate contracts, and build customer and vendor relationships. This phase includes ADENTRA University Consultative Sales Course. This is a custom course designed to make you a great sales person.

Minimum Qualifications
- Post Secondary Education is preferred
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and presentation skills are a must
- Desire to work in a customer-centric sales role
- Ability to upsell
- Excellent customer service skills and strong telephone presence
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel a plus)
- Sense of urgency, positive, proactive and energetic attitude
- Ability to work well independently and to effectively multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
