Position Summary
Wauconda Manufacturing company seeking a highly skilled CNC Mill Programmer / Operator with strong experience in 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining. This individual will be responsible for programming, setup, operation, and troubleshooting of complex precision-machined components while maintaining high quality and efficiency standards. The ideal candidate must have advanced experience using Mastercam, strong blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to machine tight-tolerance components for aerospace, defense, and high-precision industrial applications.

Essential Responsibilities
Program complex 4-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines using Mastercam
Set up and operate CNC milling equipment independently
Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, engineering drawings, and process sheets
Select tooling, fixtures, workholding, cutting strategies, and machining sequences
Optimize cycle times while maintaining quality and tooling life
Perform prove-outs and first article inspections
Edit programs at the machine as needed for process improvements
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues
Maintain dimensional accuracy on tight-tolerance components
Verify dimensions using precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools
Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve manufacturing processes
Assist with fixture design and process improvement initiatives
Maintain organized documentation and revision control of programs and setup sheets
Follow all AS9100 quality standards, shop procedures, and safety requirements
Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements
Required Experience
Minimum 5 years of CNC milling experience
Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience using Mastercam
Strong experience with 4-axis and 5-axis machining
Experience machining complex precision components
Experience working with tight tolerances commonly found in aerospace and defense manufacturing
Technical Skills
Advanced understanding of GD&T
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and cutting strategies
Experience with fixture setup and workholding solutions
Ability to troubleshoot and optimize CNC programs
Understanding of inspection methods and quality requirements
Familiarity with high-performance materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, Inconel, hardened steels, and other aerospace-grade materials preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience preferred
AS9100 manufacturing environment experience preferred
Experience with high-mix, low-volume precision machining
Ability to mentor lower-level machinists and operators
Strong organizational and communication skills

Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience, technical ability, programming capability, setup independence, and overall machining knowledge. Higher compensation consideration will be given to candidates with advanced 5-axis programming and aerospace manufacturing experience.
Pay $40-45/hr
