About Union Yoga
Union Yoga is an inclusive yoga studio and wellness community in San Diego focused on mindful movement, mental wellness, nervous system support, and compassionate teaching. Our classes are designed to feel welcoming, grounded, and accessible — not intimidating, overly performative, or fitness-industry driven.
We are currently hiring three yoga teachers to join our teaching team. We are especially looking for instructors with experience in Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Sound Bath facilitation, or teachers who are strong in one of these areas and willing to grow in the others.
Union Yoga’s teaching culture is rooted in inclusivity, diversity, trauma sensitivity, functional cueing, nervous-system awareness, and student choice. Our 200-hour training emphasizes Vinyasa, Yin Yoga foundations, trauma-sensitive teaching, sound healing, meditation, functional anatomy, consent-based adjustments, and accessibility.
Position Overview
The Yoga Teacher at Union Yoga leads thoughtful, well-sequenced classes that help students feel safe, supported, grounded, and empowered in their practice. This role is ideal for a teacher who values depth over performance, presence over perfection, and community over ego.
Teachers may be scheduled for classes such as:
Low Heat Vinyasa
A warm, breath-centered, all-levels vinyasa practice focused on mobility, grounding, and mindful movement.
Heated Power Vinyasa
A stronger, athletic 90° flow with empowering sequencing, strength-building transitions, and clear options for students.
Yin + Sound Bath
A restorative class with long-held postures, breathwork, meditation, and sound bath elements to support stress relief and emotional grounding.
Candlelight Low Heat Vinyasa + Sound Bath
A soothing evening practice that blends calming movement, nervous-system regulation, and a restorative sound bath.
Responsibilities
Lead safe, welcoming, and well-sequenced yoga classes for a range of experience levels.
Teach Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, Sound Bath, or a combination of these offerings depending on experience and schedule needs.
Use clear, accessible cueing that supports real bodies, different abilities, and mixed-level classes.
Offer modifications, options, and invitational language so students can make empowered choices in their practice.
Create a grounded class environment that supports stress relief, mental clarity, emotional regulation, and community connection.
Maintain professional boundaries, reliability, punctuality, and care for the studio space.
Support Union Yoga’s mission of inclusive, accessible, trauma-sensitive yoga.
Participate in onboarding and be willing to learn Union Yoga’s trauma-sensitive teaching methods, class standards, and studio culture.
Communicate professionally with management about scheduling, subs, class feedback, and student needs.
What We’re Looking For
A teacher who is warm, emotionally intelligent, grounded, and community-minded.
Experience teaching Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Meditation, Breathwork, or Sound Baths.
Comfort teaching beginners and mixed-level students.
Strong cueing skills, including breath-based instruction, safe alignment, and thoughtful transitions.
A willingness to teach in a trauma-sensitive way, including student choice, consent, accessibility, and non-commanding language.
A calm and professional presence before, during, and after class.
Reliability with scheduling and communication.
A genuine respect for students of all ages, backgrounds, body types, identities, and lived experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
200-hour yoga teacher certification or equivalent teaching experience.
Yin Yoga training or meaningful experience teaching slower, meditative practices.
Sound Bath or sound healing facilitation experience.
Trauma-informed or trauma-sensitive yoga training, or sincere willingness to complete training through Union Yoga.
Experience teaching in boutique studios, community spaces, wellness centers, healthcare-adjacent environments, retreats, or teacher trainings.
E-RYT 200, RYT 500, E-RYT 500, IAYT, meditation, breathwork, or restorative yoga credentials are a plus.
Schedule
Part-time, class-based schedule. We are hiring for multiple weekly class slots and substitute opportunities. Availability for evenings, weekends, early mornings, or specialty classes is helpful.
Compensation
Standard yoga class pay is based on Union Yoga’s instructor tier structure:
Tier 1: $35/class
Tier 2: $40/class
Tier 3: $45/class
Care Team or specialty institutional programming may be paid at higher program-specific rates when formally assigned. Because California employers with 15 or more employees must include the pay scale in job postings, I recommend keeping the compensation range directly in the Indeed post.
Why Join Union Yoga
Union Yoga is known for small, intimate classes, candlelight yoga, sound baths, warm and accessible vinyasa, nervous-system support, trauma-informed teaching, and a welcoming community environment. Reviews and internal brand research consistently identify the studio as calming, grounding, supportive, inclusive, compassionate, and deeply personal.
This is a strong fit for teachers who want to grow within a studio that values care, depth, education, and community impact — not just class numbers or performance.
