CBRC Health & Fitness
CBRC Health & Fitness is seeking professional, attentive, and dependable Lifeguards to join our aquatics safety team.
If you take pride in keeping others safe, enjoy working with people, and want to be part of a supportive aquatics team, we would love to hear from you.
At CBRC, our core purpose is building a community and inspiring healthier lives. Our Lifeguards play an essential role in that purpose by creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable aquatic environment for our members, guests, and families.
As a CBRC Lifeguard, your first responsibility is safety.
Lifeguards maintain active surveillance of our pools and surrounding areas, enforce facility rules, respond appropriately to emergencies, and help ensure members and guests have a safe and positive experience.
This is an active position that requires focus, good judgment, strong communication, and the ability to remain calm and take action when needed. Our Lifeguards are also important members of our customer service team, interacting with members and families throughout each shift.
- Maintain active and attentive surveillance of assigned pool and aquatic areas.
- Make the safety and well-being of members, guests, and coworkers the highest priority.
- Recognize potential hazards and take appropriate action to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Enforce pool rules, safety standards, and facility policies consistently and professionally.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to aquatic emergencies.
- Perform water rescues, CPR/AED, first aid, and other emergency procedures when necessary.
- Follow CBRC Emergency Action Plans and established emergency response procedures.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with members, guests, children, parents, and coworkers.
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service while maintaining appropriate safety standards.
- Maintain awareness of activities occurring in and around the pool and deck areas.
- Complete required safety checks, documentation, and other assigned records accurately.
- Participate in required lifeguard in-service training, rescue drills, staff meetings, and ongoing skills development.
- Maintain required lifeguarding and emergency-response certifications.
- Assist with keeping pool decks, rescue equipment, and aquatic areas clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Properly inspect and care for rescue and first aid equipment.
- Work cooperatively and professionally with fellow lifeguards, swim instructors, and Aquatics leadership.
- Assist with opening, closing, and other daily aquatic facility responsibilities as assigned.
- Model professionalism, dependability, and CBRC’s commitment to exceptional member service.
The ideal CBRC Lifeguard understands that effective lifeguarding requires more than having a certification. It means remaining attentive even during quiet periods, consistently enforcing safety expectations, maintaining your skills, and being prepared to respond when someone needs help.
Strong candidates will bring:
- A current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, or equivalent recognized lifeguard certification and training.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid credentials as required by their lifeguard certification.
- Strong swimming and rescue skills.
- A commitment to safety and active surveillance.
- The ability to remain focused and attentive throughout a shift.
- Good judgment and the ability to remain calm during emergency situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A professional and respectful approach to enforcing facility rules.
- A friendly, helpful attitude when interacting with members and guests.
- Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- The ability to work effectively as part of an aquatics team.
- A willingness to participate in ongoing training and maintain rescue-readiness.
Because lifeguarding is an active safety position, Lifeguards must be able to:
- Meet all swimming, rescue, and physical requirements of their lifeguard certification.
- Swim continuously and perform water rescues when necessary.
- Enter and exit the water quickly and safely.
- Perform CPR, first aid, and other required emergency-response skills.
- Stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout pool and deck areas for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, and properly use rescue and safety equipment.
- Have sufficient vision and hearing to actively monitor patrons, recognize potential hazards, and respond to emergencies.
Lifeguard schedules may include early mornings, daytime and evening shifts, weekends, holidays, and special events based on CBRC’s aquatic programming and facility needs.
Dependable attendance and arriving prepared and on time for scheduled shifts are essential to maintaining safe pool coverage.
Pay range: $17.13–$18.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Being a Lifeguard at CBRC is about more than watching a pool. It’s about creating an environment where members and families can enjoy the water knowing that a trained, attentive professional is looking out for their safety.
You’ll also have the opportunity to strengthen valuable skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, emergency response, and customer service while working alongside a dedicated aquatics team.
Whether you’re building experience in aquatics or looking for a place to continue growing your lifeguarding skills, we want CBRC to be a place where you can contribute, learn, and be part of a strong team.
If you are a certified Lifeguard who takes safety seriously and wants to be part of a welcoming, community-focused aquatics team, we’d love to hear from you.
